ND SUNRISE has developed a suite of technologies to convert fatty-acid based oils and fats, including crude corn oil, into a suite of fuel and chemical products.  The heart of the technologies is the non-catalytic cracking of the fatty-acid feedstock into fragments that are then purified and, in some cases, further processed to generate 100% compatible replacements for jet fuel, diesel fuels, chemical grade naphtha, pentanes, and LPG.  Process options allow the recovery of valuable platform chemicals including C1-C12 fatty acids. Steps to remove the acid groups from larger fragments utilizes a novel catalytic process that does not requirement hydrogen.  The ability to generate fossil carbon replacements without the use of hydrogen may make this technology attractive for locations where hydrogen sources do not exist.
