Paul Beamer has worked between academia and industry a little over ten years, focusing on environmental quality through leveraging biological solutions to agricultural challenges. His time in industry led to experiences working in gene editing, controlled environments, crop breeding, grain physiology for milling, regenerative agriculture, and using fungi to improve carbon sequestration. My research and extension efforts include weed management and soil health improvement within food systems through cultural, mechanical, and biological approaches. One of his favorite projects was the installment for an on-farm demonstration of agroforestry terracing, whereby fruit trees were intercropped into drought-resistant Moringa oleifera trees on St. Croix, USVI.
