Matt was raised on a multi-species farm near Clearwater, MN. After 15 years of working in conventional food marketing, he returned to the family farm to raise his family and seek his next vocation. He quickly noticed the beautiful rolling farmland and wetlands degraded by decades of tilling to sow an extractive rotation of monoculture GMO corn/soy crops on all the neighboring farms with farm animals no longer part of the landscape. He then began to understand his true purpose and passion was to contribute to the improvement of the US food system by implementing regenerative agriculture practices to include managed grazing. What started as an 100 acre project on his family's farm has grown into Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed, a national leader in grass-fed beef working with 50 family farms and 500,000 acres. Matt is the owner and Chief Regenerative Renegade of Thousand Hills.
