James Sieben began his professional career at 3M which sparked his interest in product development and innovation. He then took the opportunity to work for IXI Corp, and advanced quickly to engineering manager. His work accomplishments at IXI led to a patent.

James began working for the Willmar Poultry Company in 1985. He developed ventilation automation systems and incubator controls. In 1990, he moved to General Manager of Farm Service Elevator where his main focus was automation of the feed mill. James accepted the position Vice-President/GM for Nova Tech Engineering (NTE) in 1995. Nova-Tech Engineering is a robotics company focused in the poultry industry. Since then, Nova Tech Engineering has progressed from startup to installation locations in over 60 countries. Their patented processes and unique business model are two of the driving forces behind NTE. He is currently the President of Nova-Tech Engineering.

NTE was soon in need of advanced facilities; thus, in 2005, James had the foresight and vision to see what MinnWest Technology Campus could be. He led all negotiations for the Campus purchase from the State of Minnesota by working directly with the local EDC, City, County, and State organizations. He is the President of MinnWest Technology Campus, President of MinnWest Foundation and Owner of Sieben Enterprises.
